Consignment Stock is an advanced inventory management system. In this mode, the supplier transfers a certain amount of products to the customer without requesting payment.

Essentially, the supplier retains ownership of the goods until the customer picks them up from the warehouse or sells them to their end customers, at which time the financial transaction takes place. Even in the context of aluminum supply, “Consignment Stock” represents a warehouse inventory management model that offers flexibility and financial benefits to customers. Here’s how it works in detail:

Contractual Agreement

In this agreement, the terms and conditions related to the handling of the goods are defined, including details such as the retention period, quantities, prices, and payment terms.

Delivery of the goods

After the agreement is signed, the supplier delivers the goods to the customer and places them in his warehouse. Despite the physical presence of the goods in the customer's warehouse, the ownership remains with the supplier.

Registration and tracking

Goods are recorded in the customer's system, which regularly monitors inventory.

Use or sale

The customer uses or sells the goods according to his or her operational needs. This stage is crucial, as the customer only pays for the goods that are actually consumed or sold.

Invoicing

Invoicing is based on the goods used or sold. The customer receives an invoice from the supplier, generally at agreed intervals, reflecting only the quantities actually consumed.

Replenishment or recovery of unused goods

If agreed in the agreement, the supplier replenishes the goods when necessary to maintain the established inventory level. Alternatively, if the customer does not use or sell certain goods within a set period, the supplier can recover them.
